Mrs. Roxana Ridpath died Friday evening last at her home, 309 Lincoln St, Greenfield. Sunday evening funeral services were held at the residence. Monday morning the body was taken to Greencastle to the home of her sister-in-law, Mrs. Martha Ridpath. The burial was at Forest Hill Cemetery at the side of the tomb of her distinguished husband, the late John Clark Ridpath, the historian. The deceased was born in Greencastle in 1844 where she lived until she moved to Greenfield where she had two daughters living and where she resided for 13 years. Her husband was a professor of belleslltres in what was then Asbury University and now DePauw. Prof. Ridpath’s histories of the US and world were standard and gave him a wide reputation. Three daughters survive her: Mrs. Mary Mann of Chicago and Mrs. Myrtle Cook and Mrs. Minnie Thayer of Greenfield; also 3 grandchildren: Roxana Thayer Eldridge of Greenfield; Marjorie Mann-Story of Chicago and George Thayer of Glove, Az and one great grandchild, Jean Eldridge.
